At least, that's what the label's publisher suspects. Despite being hampered by negative reviews and the pandemic, it's possible Bloodshot will end up playing a similar role in paving the way for future Valiant Comics adaptation. Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali will be taking over the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but in many ways it was Snipes' Blade trilogy that made the MCU possible, opening in theaters a decade before the first Iron Man and even two years before Fox's original X-Men movie arrived. Although the Bloodshot movie adaptation, which stars Vin Diesel, lost its battle at the box office largely due to bad timing (having opened just as the coronavirus pandemic took a turn for the worse), the titular super-soldier may yet prevail.īack in the late '90s, Wesley Snipes became the first actor to don the leather trench coat and transform into the vampiric superhero Blade on the big screen. Fred Pierce, the publisher of Valiant Comics, believes Bloodshot will be the prime instigator for Valiant's Movie Universe, in the same way Blade (and not Iron Man) was for the world of Marvel films.
